Who I am – Matteo Niccoli(He/Him)

I am a Geophysicist with a first class honours degree in Geology from the University of Rome, Italy, and a Masters degree in Geophysics from the University of Calgary, Alberta.

I have been working for 17 years in the upstream oil and gas sector, on-shore and off-shore projects (Western Canada and Norway).

I am passionate about geophysics and integration with geology and engineering, as well as computer vision and computational geoscience (multivariate statistics, data analysis and visualization, machine learning), and knowledge sharing.

What I blog about

I will blog about geophysics, particularly data enhancement, visualization and interpretation, and also about Data Science, image processing and analysis, visualization; occasionally on planetary science. My goal is to publish largely original material, generally in the form of tutorials and case studies, often sharing data, results, and code (Python mostly, sometimes Matlab).
